A magical world comes to life when your Grand Rapids Symphony and dancers of the Grand Rapids Ballet Company present the classic tale of "Little Red Riding Hood." This 45-minute musical story is a perfect introduction to music for children ages 4-7, and communicates messages such as the importance of listening to one's parents, being wary of strangers, as well as the triumph of good over evil.

Action, Humor and Updates to the Classic Story such as when Little Red Riding Hood makes a call to her mother on a cell phone! The music written by Rossini ("William Tell Overture" ) is lively and the ballet adds movement with fun dances like a polka, waltz and a Russian Cossack dance.

Kids Learn about Instrument Families. Musicians will wear colored t-shirts to show their membership in the string, woodwind, brass or percussion family.

"We are thrilled to be working the Symphony again to present this classic tale in a fun production perfect for all ages. Little Red Riding Hood is a story that survives time - mothers giving daughters advice and wisdom and daughters still choosing their own paths, while all along being guided by their mother's words."
— Patricia Barker, Artistic Director Grand Rapids Ballet Company
